One Fish, Two Fish, Small Fish, Big Fish

Florida Fishin'

One of the
Catch of the Day.

We were up at 4:00 AM this morning to get to the Port to meet our tour guide, Alex.
Alex is a very personable young man, and we hit it off right away.  Just a few minutes later we began charting the Indian River Lagoon at an early 5:30 AM.
We caught more than the two fish the title suggests because Alex knows where the fish are.  We did try for the red fish, but they just weren't biting today.

It is quiet and peaceful on the water.
Doug had mentioned just a couple of days ago that there was a certain fish on his bucket list that he always wanted to catch.  (By the way, he has been fishing for a few years.)  Today, he can check that item off his bucket list!  It was a great day for Florida fishing.

I also captured many gorgeous pictures of this area close to where we were lodging for the week.

Doug began catching fish almost as soon as he cast his line into the water.
It wasn't long before he caught "The Big Kahuna".

It was about an 11 lb. Black Drum.
He put up quite the fight.

Catch and release.

Just a little later, Doug hooked a tarpon.  It was a good 14 lbs.
Yes, that was his "bucket list" fish.
It is a good day.

With our guide's expert teaching, I soon caught on to casting and "setting the hook".
I also caught a tarpon, a micro tarpon.  We called mine "The Little Kahuna"!

We were very successful.
As you can see from the photos, the early morning hours and sunrise were spectacular!

Tarpon, 14 lbs.

Black Drum, 11 lbs.

Micro tarpon 4-5 lbs.
My "little Kahuna" fish.

Peaceful waters of the early morning.

The Grills was recommended by our fishing guide
as a destination lunch spot.

So glad we stopped for lunch!
