With 8 grandchildren,
it seems as though there is always another birthday to celebrate.
Now it is Graham's turn to throw a birthday party.

Graham is 7!

The theme this year was
 Star Wars.

Camouflage Cake- 7 years Old-Cooking with Aiden

My how time flies!
Aiden has a summer birthday and was visiting grandpa and grandma
around that time.
He wanted to make a birthday cake.
A camouflage cake to be more specific.
He had seen a cake mix for a camouflage cake at Walmart,
but we couldn't find one when we went shopping.
The next best thing was to make our own camouflage colors.

Even though it is hard to see, here is the finished product.

Aiden loves to cook,
and he can read the directions on the cake mix box.

He followed the directions on the box,
and we baked it accordingly.

I had some food coloring that we could use to make a
camouflage colored cake.

We chose green.

Then black.

And orange.

I used equal parts of the cake batter for each color.
One green, one orange, one black, and one the regular white batter.

We put the regular white batter in the bottom.

Then random spoonfuls of the colors.

Then we ran a knife through the batter to make it marbled.

I appreciate the cleanup  help in the kitchen.

This turned out a lovely golden brown.

The oven mitt was a Christmas gift from my grandsons.

I frosted this with a canned frosting that I had in the pantry.
It is a watermelon flavor.

Happy 7th Birthday!

Duncan & Aiden

I asked grandpa Doug if he saw Aiden's Camouflage Cake,
but he said he couldn't find it.
Good job, Aiden.

Here is Aiden's birthday gift!
