Cookie Throw Down- Doug's "Snicker" Doodle Surprise Cookie

COOKIE  THRODOWN

"Snicker" Doodle Surprise

My husband and I have the results from our 2nd Annual Cookie Throw Down.  Being (slightly) competitive, we had a cookie baking contest last year at Christmas time and decided to make it an annual event.  By the way, Doug did win the contest last year.  I do have to admit after being defeated by his Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookie,  it was one of the best cookies I have ever eaten.  Having said that, I thought sure that my cookie choice this year would be the winner.  Doug has the knack for choosing a crowd pleasing cookie for the contest.  His "Snicker" Doodle Surprise Cookie won by a 2 to 1 margin.  If you don't like peanut butter cookies, you will probably like this one.  I know that because people loved this cookie that don't even like peanut butter cookies.  I will be blogging the other two cookie entries, and you can make them and judge for yourself which cookie is your favorite.  They are all winners.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/4 cups peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2-3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 20 fun size Snicker candy bars, unwrapped
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

In a large bowl, measure 1 cup butter, softened.
Add 1-1/2 cups brown sugar.
Measure and add 1/2 cup granulated sugar.
Add 1-1/4 cups peanut butter, 2 eggs, and 1 Tbsp. vanilla and beat until fluffy.
Measure dry ingredients in a separate bowl, 1 tsp. baking powder,
1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 2-3/4 cups flour.
Add the dry ingredients and mix well.
Cover dough and chill for at least 30 minutes, preferably 4-6 hours.

Cut fun size candy bar in half.
Spoon cookie dough onto ungreased cookie sheet
and place cut Snicker on top of flattened dough.
Shape and flatten enough dough to cover candy bar.
Be sure that the candy bar is completely covered with dough, or it will melt
out onto the cookie sheet during baking.
Bake them for 9-12 minutes until light golden brown at 375 degrees.
Cool cookies for 10 minutes.  Place milk chocolate chips in small microwave-safe
bowl.  Microwave on high for 1 minute; remove and stir.  Microwave for 30 seconds longer;
remove and stir until smooth.  Drizzle over cookies.
These are a winner!
Dazzle your family and friends this Christmas with these  holiday surprises.
This blog would not be complete without my husband's humble acceptance speech
upon winning the throw down.  It is as follows:

We have tallied the 22 votes cast and the results are in:

The winning cookie for 2012 was cookie “B”,  aka “Snicker” Doodle Surprise, with 11 votes.  A modest little peanut butter cookie with a small chunk of Snickers™ bar baked inside.

Having successfully defended his last years title that was won with a chocolate covered cherry cookie; I humbly accept this year’s title and thank those who participated in the event; both bakers and tasters alike.
