Waffle Iron Pizza Pockets- Cooking Spencer & Graham

Happy 13th Anniversary

June 10th

Doug & I traveled to Indiana for a visit while our kids celebrated their anniversary.  We assumed the boys' busy schedules and still had time to cook together.  What says cooking with boys more than making pizza?  This is a very cool twist on pizza that is fun to make and fun to eat.  I have been wanting to make this pizza since I saw the idea on Pinterest.  We made it our own by putting on the toppings we had on hand.  Try this recipe the next time you are hungry for pizza.  You will like the variation.

 Homemade Pizza Pockets!

 Ingredients:

  • Refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough or refrigerator biscuits)
  • Pepperoni
  • Mozzarella cheese slices
  • Ham slices
  • Mushrooms
  • Your favorite toppings ( peppers, onions, olives...)

Gather the boys and Grandpa & the pizza ingredients.
Pre-heat the waffle iron.
Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough and cut into rectangles to fit your waffle iron.
Graham is adding his favorite toppings onto half of the dough.

Fold the other half of the dough over the toppings.
Spray the waffle iron with non-stick vegetable spray.
When cooking with children, always have an adult use the waffle iron
or oven or any hot surfaces.
Have Grandpa (or an adult) place the pizza pocket onto the hot waffle iron.
Close the lid and cook until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
However, check after 5 minutes.
Spencer is making his own personal pizza pocket.
Fold the other half of the dough over the toppings.
When the pizza pocket is done, remove it from the waffle iron onto a plate.

Serve with pizza sauce on the side for dipping.

Bon Appetit!

Enjoy!

Thank you boys for a great day!
