Strawberry, Raspberry, Granola Yogurt in a Jar- Cooking with Aiden

Aiden's Yogurt in a Jar!

My grandson, Aiden, took his turn spending the night at Grandpa and Grandma's.  We had a great time, and tried to have as many adventures as we could in one day.  We fixed a kid-friendly and healthy dessert to take back to Mom and Dad's.  We froze it when we finished, and it was just right to serve by the time Aiden got back home.  It was a hit!

We gathered the ingredients and the 4 oz. canning jars for individual parfait  treats.
We used our favorite yogurt flavors, lime, lemon, strawberry, and blueberry.
Make one parfait for each person.
Take the lids off each jar.
Use your favorite granola for a crunchy topping.
We layered the ingredients, with a bottom layer of yogurt.
We used fresh red raspberries as they were in season.
We also found fresh strawberries.
We washed and sliced the strawberries, then added them for the second layer.
Continue until all the jars are layered with strawberries.
Then, add another layer of yogurt.  You can make each parfait with the same flavor,
or you can use a different flavor for each layer.
Continue until all jars have 3 layers.

Then, add the 4th layer of red raspberries.
We had enough yogurt to add a thin layer on top of the raspberries.
then add a spoon of granola for a crunchy top.
A maraschino cherry is the perfect ending, and cherries are a favorite of Aiden's.
A cool, refreshing, healthy dessert...
and so easy to make!
Ready to take back home to Mom and Dad.
All you have to do is screw the lids on, and they are ready to transport.
Thanks, Aiden, for a great day!

Aiden's Adventure with Grandpa & Grandma

Our first stop was the beautiful Reiman Gardens.  (That is after breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts.)

The Christina Reiman Butterfly wing is a tropical paradise that has up to 800 live butterflies, of 80 different species, in flight.  Reiman Gardens allows the display of over 1,000 butterflies of native and exotic species, so there is always something new to see.  The structure even resembles a butterfly.

Aiden thought this was Santa Claus when he looked across the gardens,
but it is the world's largest concrete gnome!
The World's Largest Concrete Gnome came to live at Reiman Gardens.  The yet-unnamed gnome is 15-feet-tall and nearly 3,500 pounds.  The gnome was crafted by Andy and Connie Kautza, owners of National Rock and Sculpture, Inc., and travelled 400 miles from Wausau, Wisconsin, to its new home in the south-central neck of Reiman Gardens.  Garden gnome figurines date back to the 1800's and are a good luck charm for gardners and farmers.

The Rose Gardens is home to one of the country's best rose gardens, according to one of the largest rose growers associations.  There are over 2,000 individual plants and 250 different varieties of roses.
