Toll House Cookies- Cooking with the Grandkids-Dane is a Teenager


Toll House Cookies

Another month, another birthday.
That would be 2 birthdays, Evie & Dane.
Evie will be thirty something and Dane is now officially a teenager.

We made our trek to celebrate with the family.
And we had the best time!

Dane is a cross country runner.
He runs with his dad and mom.  It is not unusual to run 11 miles.
I think it is a fairly long trip when I have to drive 11 miles "to run" an errand.
Good job, Dane.

He is also a Lego enthusiast.
He assembles Lego sets and also designs his own creations.

I try to cook something with the grand children each time we visit.
Graham suggested sugar cookies with chocolate chips in them.

The recipe result was
Original NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Chocolate Chip Cookies,
a classic.



Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 
1 teaspoon baking soda 
1 teaspoon salt 
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 
3/4 cup granulated sugar 
3/4 cup packed brown sugar 
1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
2 large eggs 
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) ⦁ NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup oatmeal (optional, we added this as a variation)
PREHEAT oven to 375° F.


COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Add oatmeal. Stir in morsels. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. 

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Instead, the chocolate held its shape and softened to a delicate, creamy texture.

Spencer is looking forward to using the mixer.

Everyone lent  hand to make the job go quickly.
After all, we wanted to nibble on them as soon as they were baked.

The first step is to combine the flour,

the baking soda,

and the salt in a small bowl.

Beat butter,

granulated sugar, 

brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixing bowl until creamy.

 Add eggs.

This is the reason you crack the eggs into a separate bowl.
You don't want egg shells in the cookie dough.

Spencer has been waiting to use the mixer!
Beat the eggs well into the mixture.

Gradually beat in flour mixture.


Add oatmeal.



Stir in morsels. 


Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. 

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes.

Until golden brown. 



These cookies were as good as they look!
