Caramel Apple Nachos- Dane's Cooking Adventures

We made a trip in September to enjoy a long Labor Day weekend
and to celebrate Dane's 11th birthday as well as Evie's Thirty-Something birthday!

What a bunch of great kids!

We made a lot of memories, and of course, came up with a recipe that was
easy, nutritious, fun to make, and delicious!

Caramel
Apple
Nachos

These are good and good for you!

 Apple Nachos
4 of your favorite apples
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1 package of Kraft Caramels
2 Tablespoons of milk or cream
1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips
1/4 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans

Fill a medium sized bowl with water and stir in the lemon juice. Cut up apples and soak them in the lemon water for a few minutes. Make sure all the apple slices get wet as this will keep them from browning. Remove them from the water and arrange them in a nice way on a serving plate.

Place the caramel in a small microwaveable bowl and melt in the microwave for 30 second intervals. Stir in the cream. The caramel should run evenly off of a spoon. If it doesn’t, then heat in the microwave for 10 more seconds.

Drizzle the caramel over the apples. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and the chopped walnuts on top as well. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
This recipe can be found on Pinterest with many variations.  I modified my recipe from www.gfspartyplanning.com/apples-anytime

Dane is now 11 years old!

Fill a medium sized bowl with water, and squeeze juice of 1 lemon into the bowl.

Cut up the apples and soak them in the lemon water to keep them from turning brown.

Did you know?
If you can't brush your teeth after a meal, reach for a Granny Smith apple. Biting and chewing the tough, fibrous skin of the apple stimulates saliva production. The extreme tartness of Granny Smith apples aids in more salivation than a sweeter type of apple. High levels of saliva decrease bacteria in your mouth that attack teeth and cause cavities. Beautiful Granny Smith Apple.
Did you know that October is National Apple Month?
Granny Smith apples are a crisp, tart apple that make a delicious snack or a tasteful addition to recipes. Because these green apples are have a higher acid content than other apples, they take longer to go brown once you cut into them.

Unwrap a bag of Kraft Caramels and place in a bowl.

Add 2 Tbsp. cream or milk.

Remove the apples from the water and arrange in a pretty pattern in a dish.

Heat the caramel in a microwave in 30 second intervals
until the caramel runs evenly off the spoon.

Sprinkle 1/4 cup chopped walnuts over the apples while the caramel is warm.

Then, sprinkle 1/2 cup of chocolate chips over the apples.

Enjoy!
