Easter Bunny Pops- Cooking with Graham



Bunny Pop Donuts

It is almost Easter, although if you are looking for signs of Spring, you might be fooled.  The weather has been a roller coaster of temperatures.  I am visiting with my grandsons while we are awaiting not only the arrival of warmer weather, but the arrival of their new baby sister.  Doug and I arrived a week before the baby was due, hoping she would arrive possibly a couple of days early.  However, I am discovering that a "due date" means what it says.  That is the day the baby is actually due.  Today is Saturday, so we are still hopeful that she will arrive this weekend, even though this coming Friday is her "due date".

We spent some time waiting by making some yummy powdered donut bunnies.

At least we won't go hungry while we are waiting.

  

On Friday's arrival Graham and Grandpa are finishing a puzzle.

Dane also completed his puzzle, and still no little sister.

Graham is biding his time making scary faces.

Mom and Dane go to baseball practice.

A surprise belated birthday cake for Grandpa.


Saturday's weather brings some mild snow showers.
And, we are still waiting for the baby...



It's time to make the donuts (the Bunny Donuts).

Take Grandpa shopping with you to get some powdered sugar donuts.

 

Gather the boys.

Gather the donuts, marshmallows, white chocolate chips, small candies, and lollipop sticks.

You will also need red food coloring, toothpicks, and a small paint brush.





Microwave 1/3 cup white chocolate chips in the microwave

until just softened.

Dip the end of the popsicle stick into the melted chocolate,
then insert into the bottom center of the donut.

Tie the ribbons onto the popsicle sticks.

Cut the marshmallows with scissors to make ears.

Mix 2 tbsp. water with a few drops of red food coloring,
and brush a pink center on each ear.  Let dry.

With a dab of melted white chocolate,
"glue" a piece of candy for the nose.

After the bunny ears have dried, insert a toothpick through each ear,
then attach ears on top of each pop.
(Take out toothpicks before eating.)
