Sarah's Bridal Shower

My niece, Sarah, is getting married on October 5th!
She came for a visit with her grandma.  So, her sister, Lyndie, her Mom, Lisa, and I discovered that it would be the perfect occasion to have a bridal shower.  We filled the afternoon with food, family, games, and gifts.

 The bride-to-be, Sarah.

 Sarah means "Princess".
Sarah made this doll when she was 7 years old.

If you look closely, you can see her doll looks like her.

Yummy food, recipes to follow.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things to the glory of God.  I Cor. 10:31

We all brought a recipe to share with Sarah, and made her a cookbook.
I'm sure she will enjoy "trying them out" on Matt.
Pictured are Uncle Keith & Aunt Ethyl writing their recipes.
Keith passed down his "Super Dooper Meatloaf" recipe.
I quote from Keith, "Feed this to Matt whenever you want him to do something for you
or before buying large-ticket items such as furniture.
Guaranteed to work to get it your way!"

Happy Birthday to Lyndie!
Lyndie celebrated her 25th birthday...with lots of gifts and blessings for another year!
We aren't sure who got more presents, Lyndie or the bride-to-be.

The recipe for the Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes
(from Southern Living February 2007)
Ingredients:
  • 2 pints cherry tomatoes
  • 1 avocado, peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 cooked bacon slices
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste

Scoop out pulp with a small spoon or melon baller, and discard pulp.

Place tomatoes, cut side down, on paper towels, and let drain 15 minutes.

 Fill with avocado mixture.

Delicious!

Uncle Doug & Lyndie
Doug worked very hard planning the menu, shopping, and preparing the food
for this happy event.  It was absolutely delicious!

Color Run Cupcakes

From The Color Run in Des Moines 07/13/13

Doused in color!

My friend, Cathy, and I did our first Color Run in Des Moines.  It was a great time with a great friend.  I wanted to capture the day with a recipe, so my grandson, Duncan, and I made our own version of what a cupcake might look like if it went through The Color Run.   I always have memorable times with my friends,  so this is dedicated to Cathy.  Thanks, also, to Duncan and Doug who helped to Color the cupcakes.

My version of The Color Run Cupcakes...

Happiness

“We call The Color Run the ‘Happiest 5K on the Planet’ because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment,” said Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run. After hundreds of thousands of participants have crossed the finish line – the name has stuck. For more on the color run visit: The Color Run

Begin by mixing a batch of cupcakes using a white cake mix.
Prepare them according to the directions on the box.

Color Duncan Happy!

Add food coloring to the batter.

Stir the food coloring in slightly.

Bake according to directions on cake mix box.

Add some food coloring to some white granulated sugar.
Also add a little powdered sugar for a smoother consistency.

Frost the cupcakes with a light powdered sugar frosting.

We mixed up three different colors.

 Douse the cupcakes with color.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Lord, for coloring my life with great friends and family!
